BBQ Chicken Tostadas: Easy, Flavorful, Crunchy Recipe
BBQ Chicken Tostadas are a delicious and easy meal featuring crispy tostada shells topped with barbecue-flavored shredded chicken, melty cheese, and fresh toppings like cilantro, red onion, and sour cream. They can be made by preparing shredded chicken with BBQ sauce, layering it on baked or toasted corn tortillas, topping with cheese, baking until melted, and finishing with fresh garnishes.
Ingredients
- 8 corn tostada shells store-bought or homemade baked tortillas
- 3 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie or crockpot)
- 1 to 1½ cups barbecue sauce divided
- 2 cups shredded cheese Monterrey Jack, cheddar, or mozzarella
- ½ cup refried beans or mashed baked beans optional
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
- ¼ to ½ cup diced red onion
- Sour cream or lime crema for topping
- Optional: diced tomatoes pineapple, green onions, or jalapeños
Instructions
- If cooking chicken, cook and shred, then mix with half the BBQ sauce.
- Preheat oven to 350-400°F.
- Toast or bake the tostada shells for 5-10 minutes until crispy.
- Spread refried beans on tostadas if using.
- Top each tostada with BBQ chicken mixture and cheese.
- Bake for 6-8 minutes until cheese melts.
- Remove from oven and top with cilantro, red onion, sour cream, and a drizzle of BBQ sauce.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Use rotisserie chicken or crockpot BBQ chicken for ease.
- Homemade tostadas can be made by baking corn tortillas sprayed with oil until crisp.
