Ingredients
  

  • 5 pounds Russet potatoes peeled and cut into cubes
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 stick ½ cup butter
  • ½ to 1 cup whole milk adjust for desired consistency
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: chives for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Wash, peel, and cube potatoes; place in large pot and cover with cold water.
  • Bring to a gentle boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes; drain well.
  • Return potatoes to pot or bowl; add cream cheese, butter, milk, salt, garlic powder, and pepper.
  • Mash potatoes with a masher or beat with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy.
  • Adjust milk and seasoning as needed.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with chives if desired.

Notes

Start with ½ cup milk and add more as needed to reach desired texture. Use Yukon Gold potatoes for a slightly different flavor and texture. For extra flavor, add roasted garlic or fresh herbs
