Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Mix in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
  • Do not overmix the batter to maintain a tender crumb.
  • For added flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract along with the vanilla.
  • This cake pairs well with buttercream frosting or a simple dusting of powdered sugar.
