Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar divided
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place sliced strawberries in a bowl and mix with 1/2 cup sugar; set aside.
  • In another bowl, whisk flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla; stir until combined.
  • Pour batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Spoon strawberries evenly over batter (do not stir).
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Fresh strawberries give the best flavor, but frozen can be used.
  • Best served warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
