- Boneless skinless chicken thighs 500g
- Soy sauce 3 tbsp
- Hoisin sauce 2 tbsp
- Honey 2 tbsp
- Brown sugar 1 tbsp
- Oyster sauce 1 tbsp
- Chinese five-spice powder 1 tsp

- Sesame oil 1 tsp
- Red food coloring optional a few drops
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, sugar, oyster sauce, five-spice, garlic, sesame oil, and food coloring.
Add chicken to the marinade and coat well; refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with foil.
Place chicken on tray and bake for 25–30 minutes, basting with leftover marinade halfway through.
Broil for an extra 2–3 minutes for a caramelized finish.
Rest for a few minutes, slice, and serve hot.
- For best flavor, marinate overnight. You can also grill the chicken instead of baking. Serve with rice or noodles.
