- 1 pound lean ground beef 85-93% lean
- 1 medium green bell pepper diced
- 1 medium yellow onion diced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 3 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 16 oz can refrigerated biscuits (such as Grands, 8 count)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion and bell pepper until cooked through and softened; drain excess fat.
Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper; simmer 3-5 minutes.
Separate biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into 8 pieces, spreading evenly in the baking dish.
Pour the sloppy joe meat mixture over the biscuit pieces and toss gently to coat.
Sprinkle half the cheddar cheese over the mixture.
Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.
Add remaining cheese on top and bake for an additional 10 minutes until biscuits are golden and cooked through.
Let rest 5-10 minutes before serving.
