- Boneless skinless chicken breasts – 1 lb cut into strips
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Black pepper – 1/2 tsp
- Cornstarch – 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour – 1/2 cup
- Eggs – 2 large beaten
- Vegetable oil – for frying
- Honey – 1/3 cup
- Soy sauce – 2 tbsp
- Apple cider vinegar – 1 tbsp
- Garlic powder – 1 tsp
- Crushed red pepper flakes – 1/2 tsp adjust to taste
- Black pepper – 1/4 tsp
Season chicken with salt and pepper.
In a shallow bowl, combine cornstarch and flour.
Dip chicken pieces in beaten eggs, then dredge in flour mixture, coating well.
Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat; fry chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 4–5 minutes per side.
In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and black pepper; bring to a simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes.
Toss fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
Serve hot over rice or with your favorite sides.
For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken. Adjust red pepper flakes for more or less heat. This sauce also works great with shrimp or tofu.
