- Canned tuna drained – 2 cans (5 oz each)
- Mayonnaise – 1/3 cup
- Celery finely chopped – 1/4 cup
- Red onion finely chopped – 2 tbsp
- Dill pickle relish – 1 tbsp
- Salt – 1/4 tsp
- Black pepper – 1/4 tsp
- Bread slices – 8
- Cheddar or Swiss cheese slices – 8
- Butter softened – 4 tbsp
In a bowl, mix tuna, mayonnaise, celery, onion, relish, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
Place 4 slices butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat.
Layer each with cheese, tuna mixture, and another cheese slice; top with remaining bread (butter side up).
Cook 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
Slice and serve hot.
Use a mix of cheddar and provolone for extra flavor. Add tomato slices before grilling for a fresh twist. Best served immediately for maximum crunch.
