This French Toast Casserole is a warm, comforting dish perfect for weekend breakfasts or holiday brunches. It's rich, custardy, and lightly sweetened with cinnamon and vanilla. Prepare it the night before for an easy morning treat!

Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices of day-old bread cubed
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • Powdered sugar or maple syrup for serving

Instructions
 

  • Grease a 9x13" baking dish and layer the bread cubes evenly.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Pour the mixture evenly over the bread, pressing down to soak.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), drizzle melted butter on top.
  • Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes or until golden and set.
  • Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with syrup before serving.

Notes

  • Use brioche or challah for a richer flavor.
  • Add chopped nuts or berries for variation.
  • Can be reheated in the microwave or oven.
